Sometimes it is difficult to long for somewhere you have not been. How can you desire a place you have not known? For many people that is the problem. The emphasis on the place being prepared often overshadows whom the place is with. The more your relationship with Adonai develops the less hold this world has on you. So again I ask, how can you desire a place you have not known? It comes from the excitement of who you get to be with.
Holy Spirit has allowed us to have a relationship with our Heavenly Father, and this desire to be with Him is nothing new. In fact, we see in the Old Testament how Holy Spirit would stir up within individuals such desires where they would begin to speak prophetically of that longing. Jesus would identify this desire within His disciples comfort them with a metaphor on labor pangs—encouraging them to endure and assuring them their joy will be complete.
At times we can find these pangs intensified as we look at the world around us and see the hopelessness this world has to offer. Yet, in these darker moments scripture tells us that heaven rejoices because the time draws closer for the reunion of Christ and His bride—His people. Yet, in other moments we take for granted the creativity He has to satisfy our souls. As if all of creation has not proven to us that His ways are more than capable of satisfying our souls.
Often talk of heavenly rewards is judged from an earthly perspective of rewards. Where a lesser reward leads to disappointment. Yet, in this place prepared for us we are all transformed into the identical image of the glory of God. There shall be no disappointment. As we look forward for glory to glory, let us now take time to enter His presence. You can do this right now by His Spirit. He will minister to you, and as you long more for Him you will find yourself ministering to Him.
Holy Spirit, let us come now to your presence. Forgive us for our transgressions. Purify our souls, cleanse our hearts, and begin to minister to us that which delights you. Minister to us of the place you are preparing for us. Show us Your greatness that is prepared ahead. Let this world lose its grip on us. Forgive us Adonai, that we may minister to you. You alone are good. Your glory endures forever, and may we with you.
